Donetsk Regional State Administration has initiated consultations with the civil society representatives on reviving on the qualitatively new grounds of the activity of the Civic Council at the Donetsk RSA, which work in the previous format proved ineffective.
Coordinators of 11 committees of the Civic Council (CC) at the Donetsk Regional State Administration (RSA) were invited to the consultative meeting to the RSA, eight of whom came to the forum. Olexander KOVALENKO, head of the General Department on public relations and on the issues of nationalities and religions of the RSA opened the meeting by stating that: "governance bodies can no longer work without the Civic council'.

Civil Expert Group at the regional Civil Service Department of the General Department of Civil Service of Ukraine was established in the Donetsk oblast. A number of representatives of non-governmental organizations, trade unions, mass media and universities became its members.
Nine out of 17 members of the newly established Civil Expert Group (CEG) at the Civil Service Department of the General Department of Civil Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk oblast took part in its first meeting. Members of the Group were welcomed by the Department's head Sergiy MOLCHANOV, who noted on the problem issues in the development of civil service. At his opinion, improvement of civil service can be facilitated by the expert opinion of civil society representatives.

Delegation of the Open Society Institute's Think Tank Fund and the Civil Society Impact Enhancement Program of the International Renaissance Foundation's visited Donetsk to meet the Center for Political Studies.

The Obama administration is expected today to propose a reorganisation of the way we regulate financial markets. I am not an advocate of too much regulation. Having gone too far in deregulating - which contributed to the current crisis - we must resist the temptation to go too far in the opposite direction.
